take the pieces off.. take them to a metal shop and have the chrome stripped and painted.

i've never heard of having chrome stripped...is it even possible ? if i sand-blast it at work, it will leave the surface pitted......are the trim pieces actualy chrome plated ? or is it just polished aluminum ? if its the latter, "sico" has a new aluminum specific primer out that is supposed to be awesome !
