WTF?!
I suggested 17's if he plans on tracking it, if not, to go with 18's cause they look better!

I've seen some 17"s that look 18"s and 18"s that look 17"s. It depends on what you want in end, form or function (as someone had pointed out). Your contours look good, but I know what you're saying. I don't think 17"s is too small, with the right rim, it can serve both form and function. 18"s gives somewhat of an OK balance.

edit: Voted 17"s btw.

I've always liked 17's

I currently have 17's

And I will always buy 17's

I think they are the perfect size for both from and FUNCTION, I think that if your bored with your current look just find a 17" rim style that you really like and go with that, plus there cheaper and so are tires, but thats just what I think. Happy rim shopping!

17's on an e30 are the minimum
18's on an e36/e46

Rich, what do you think I'm going to suggest you to get? lol

Your not going to touch any suspension components are you?

If your leaving it the way it is and just slapping on some rims then I suggest a good pair of 19inch rims.

To be honest some 18 inch rims I find too small looking. You really have to do your homework in order to get an 18inch rim that will actually look like itz 18 when on the car.

Here is my break down of what looks perfect on the following:

E30 = 18z
E36 = 19z
E46 = 20z

I actually wanted to go 20z just b4 I bought my CH's but when I saw some pix of an E36 with 20z it looked like a clown car. It was way out of proportion. The 20z looked ridiculous on an E36.

Thats just cause most people on this board are cheap, thats why they voted for 17's!

Go for 18's man, trust me, the tires aren't that expensive as they used to be a few years back cause theres a lot more people buying 18's now. And like WASABI was saying, you gotta pick the right rim, some 18's look like 15s even. . Or if you WILL get 17's try to get one where the spokes come out all the way till the end of the rim, making the rim seem bigger, where as 2 piece looking rims now matter what size will look smaller then they are!

18's at LEAST man!

Smaller = lighter = better. The smallest rim that fits over the brakes is perfect.

heh not really
personally i didnt vote cause like i said i want a set of 19" and keep 17"

But there are some downsides with 18 and 19.

1. Rubbing issues
2. is it pain in the ass to drive on 19. Dunno about 18
3. stock e36 are tiny for big rims and look funny.
4. cost
5. bigger rims usually mean smaller width of the tire = less grip
6. weight

19" are for looks only

18 are kinda small for looks, and might be kinda small for track

and btw 17" rims fill up the rear wheel well just perfect. it is the front which need like 19"

u mean Keven? lol..

it isnt late and u still messed up Nelson!

dude, 18s are perfect for E30 and E36 IMO..19s are only good for E46, Mitch...E46 on 20s? thats pushin it..lol...

R_JAY..which rims were you considering for the 18s, and 19s? instead of asking sizes..post pics of the rim..since, it all does come down to the rim right? I think your car with some BBS RC will look SICK like Mogie's ride...or even his RS-GT..which are 18s but look tiny, and his RC are 18" too but look like 19"

17" on what series bimmer? If your talkin bout E36 then I think 17's are the perfect size. It may be a little small but it is ideal for everyday use. Plus you don't have to roll your fenders.

18" looks good (if you don't wanna go too big)
19" are all show (I think its the new set standard)
Remember couple of years ago when 17" were the ishh
But nowadays I see more & more cars w/19"

Personally Rich, I am looking for new shoes this summer & I know that I'm gettin 19's. I wanna go something DEEP DISH !!!
and you know the sayin...."da bigger the rim the bigger da dish"
