Justin e36, not really correct.

Im not sure how it is for older E36, but for 96+ it is like this.

Canadian BMW got DRL relay, so when you start your car your Daytime lights are on.
By buying US Spec DRL relay, we can easily avoid the problem

So I got US Spec DRL relay in my car, then I wired my angel eyes to the corners.

so when i start my car and switch is at:
12 o'clock - nothing is on
1 o'clock - corners, angel eyes and fog one(fogs cant be switched off)
2 o'clock - everything is on

hmm... yep, very different from my switch. Mine is on a 92 E36.

I know that in 92-93 and possibly 94 the daytime lights were not installed... there was a recall and the dealer would install the daytime relay for free. So by default our switches were:

12 = off
1 = parking lights.. (marker lights)
2 = headlights

there is a separate switch for the foglights which can only be turned on at 1 or 2 O'Clock. The driving relay just made headlights on at 12 O'Clock.. but can't put on highbeams or fogs.

I wired my angel eyes with a relay hooked up to my foglights.. so when I turn on my fogs, my angels go on. (there are times I don't want them on... i.e. if I get pulled over... since my angels are often blue or red.) I can tap into any wire I want or put a separate switch for the AE's.. (which would be ideal...)

anyway, thanks for the correction...

The eyebrows and angel eyes were done using Home Depot products, the guy was a freak. He claimed he did it all in like 10 mins or something crazy like that.

actually it's the opposite.. I've been pulled over twice with my red angels... one time I was given a warning, the other time I was actually complimented on them... officer told me, "they look good, but can be dangerous. I can't give you a ticket as long as your foglights are on... it is not illegal to have red on the front of your car."

Blue IS illegal.. blue lights are reserved for service vehicles. (police cars, snow plows, even the blue lights on night TTC buses)

yes, red is perfectly legal.. I've confirmed this with another police officer as well. They *CAN* give a ticket to be an asshole... but you can win it in court easily.

You're right though.. red is definatly more evil. I always see people check their rearview when I'm approaching them... a lot of the time switching lanes... and always nudging the passenger to look in the rearview too... or they turn around and look thru the window... blue doesn't get that kinda attention.
