oh don't get me wrong, I love the Lava Lightnings too... but mainly because of the build quality, and it uses only 6W opposed to the DDE's which can take 71Wx2. (huge strain on the electrical system... goodbye alternator.) and it's a much cleaner install without a bunch of crap in the engine bay. I've seen them in person... there are only a couple things I'm not fond of. I wish they had a different light setting, because although they look great in the day / evening... at night they just don't look as agressive because it reflects so much in the E36 Euro housing.. (I'm not sure about other bimmers though?...) I think it's not the quality of the Lava Lightnings... but just that they use glass halo's which let a lot of light scatter. Also don't like that you can't change the color... I set them at xenon white for a while... but on a black car, red or deep blue just looks so much more aggressive.

In either case, they're definately a good product... and even a better price for them.

My two cents.

Yeah Justin e36, Lava Lightning is too bright. And it does reflect in the housing, and when it happens, they dont look like perfect circles.

Ive never seen DDE Lightning in person, so right now LLAE is the way to go. But Lightning Plus looks very promising

Yeah the ones on UncleJ's car looks a lil faded.. I"m thinking they're 1st or 2nd generation DDE's... using LED's or a 25watt lightbox.

the brands vary on this page... but we got them so bright simply by using a better brand, or a newer version of them.

There are 3 settings on the headlight switch.

12 O'Clock = Off (north american cars have a daytime running light module installed.. so headlights are always on.

1 O'Clock = Parking Lights (Headlights are OFF, but you cans till turn on fog lights.)

2 O'Clock = Headlights on. Can turn on fog lights and highbeams.

So you want your setting to 1 O'Clock... turn on your fogs and your AE's.
