I've listened to the sound again yesterday on the hoist and my boss got in and shifted throught the gears. I'm almost positive it isn't the throwout bearing. The ticking ; as minimal as it is; can be heard mostly on the exhaust side of the block and I put a scope on the exhasut and It sounds like it's comin from there. From what everyone has been suggesting I think it might be a worn exhaust lifter on just one cylinder. The only thing that has me thinking though is that lifters should wear gradually, and this noise started right after that little rev limiter situation.?
BTW I really appreciate ur guys input on this.
You really need to look into the insufficent free play in the clutch pedal,it can cause the clutch to stay partially disengaged and result in clutch slipping.I bet that soft clutch pedal and insufficent free play has to do something with that ticking noise.As far as clutch adjustment,that involves setting the correct amount of free play in the release mechanism,theres nothing in your service manual that says how to adjust free travel??
You said you put a scope on the exhaust,man maybe something got inside in your exhaust....little rock or something?? Maybe a nut,screw or bolt??
