cd changer help

My e36 has a 6-Cd changer in the trunk. When i try to play the Cds from the headunit it says Cd and whatever number i have chosen. Then it says High temp for some of the Cd's and high temp/Low temp for the others. The Cds do not play and the headunit beeps...can you tell me whats wrong???

That your cd changer is overheating?

Is there anything around the changer that isn't letting it get fresh trunk air?

Or does it do this like right when you turn the car on, like when it's cold?

It does it all the time, i've never been able to get it to work. Its weird because it'll switch from high temp to low temp.
