Exclamation 323 vs 325

I have a 323i coupe 99 and I can do 6.8 secs o to 60 with traction off ( its done 56K) I read that 325 has more power but isnt it heavier with a iron block. Anyone driven both to compare

It would seem they do, but the HP and Torque numbers are differnt.

I know the 325i 2.5L I6 has double Vanos. Do you know if the 99 323 2.5L has double vanos as well????

The engines were changed A LOT between those 2 cars.

E36 323is = M52
E46 325i = M54

It has the double Vanos, completely different timing, fully electronic throttle (blah!), and many other new parts. It's completely different.

That said, the times between the cars are very close. Close enough that it's literally all driver.

Isnt the E36 323is with the m52 the 98 model??
I think what "dtthiaga" asked is if the e46 323 have double vanos like his e46 325??

I was responding to the original post, with regards to E36 323 2.5 vs. E46 325 2.5.

BTW,where did you get the info that the M52 in the 323i is double vanos. The M50 is basically the m52 only stroked to 2.8 which was used on the 328 which were single vanos i believe and in 99 the e46 models went with double vanos then in 2001 the M54 apeared in the 328 and 330.The e46 323 has 170hp and 181lbs of torque and as far as i can remeber raches 60 within 7 seconds.

LOL, you're getting really bad with understanding posts.

My comments are stating what the M54 has and the M52 doesn't.

It's all good, this conversation has gotten really confusing. Just to clear a few things up:

1992 E36 325
- M50

1993-1995 E36 325
- M50TU

1998-1999 E36 323
- M52

1999-2000 E46 323
- M52TU

2001+ E46 325
- M54

I wish I had this sort of memory for school...

Although they have different transmissions and different bod styles, my M50TU (95 325i) hauls ASS when compared to my moms AUTO M52TU (00 323i, AUTO). Both are very nice cars, but power wise the 325 is still much stronger. However, the power on the 323i isn't too bad and on the highway the double vanos REALLY helps it cause it has a very nice pickp at higher speeds!
