Also

For the regular Wrx priced at $36 495 and the Sti at about $46 000

I think alot of people will agree that there is not one car in Canada that for that price can do it all around in summer and in winter.

All I can say is the WRX has turbo lag, I have driven it for long periods od time back from Subaru Canada, I liked the '02 style much better then the '04 style.....Don't get me wrong, once you past about 2900rpm, there is sufficient power forsure, but do a quick change from 1st to second at 2500rpm and there is no power till you past 3000rpm in second......My BMW e36 has power constant even if you dump it into a higher gear at a low RPM, just the advantage of a naturally aspirated engine....
I have driven 2 STI's as well working for subaru and that is a totally different story.....Butloads of power all throughout the rev range and the handling is fantastic......You can adjust the differential on it, and tons of other neat options. It is priced very well for the options you get.....I am just not really a fan of the stock WRX.......Just my personal opinion......

yea, i also hear that the WRX got some turbo lagg.

WRX STI is a rally car. the car is made for corners and good handling. In rally races most of the time the rear wheel drive cars are behind the four wheel drives. I may be wrong but i think when they made WRX or wrx STI they mostly focused on getting low numbers on 0-60 or 0-120 since not often you'll go passed those speeds in rallys. I may be wrong, just putting in my 2 cents

WRX's really suck on highways, at highway speeds acceleration is really slow.

But for winter I'd rather have WRX, for summer M3. Overall, Id take M3.

0-100km/h sti is close to the e46 m3 and it is a drive race, wrx is close to the e36 and it is a driver race. Athigher speed m3s will pull.

Im not really a fan of both WRX's looks, so I would take M3, but for the money you get alot from WRX.

couldn't have said it better myself.

but over all, you can't compare the 2 cars, wrx and m3.

they are made for 2 different Purposes.
(I and many of you here, would take the m3 over wrx, anyday.)

sure you can compaire them. Thats why this thread is here. thats why mags compare them together(link posted on page 1).

i tottaly agree with whoever that says wrx isn't made for highway speed no doubt about that. For speed, i would take the STI, for the keeps i would go with the beeema

no mag compares wrx to m3,

r u stupid.
the link you got there is bullshit. 0-60 times for m3 csl is not 5.3 they r off by a whole second.

all magz i'v seen compar wrx and evo or some jap car like that,

they never compare m3 to wrx. different class.

DONE AND DONE,
Race 1
E46 M3 VS STi = M3 by 2 cars
Race 2, M3 by 2 car
Race 3, M3 by 2 1/2 cars
ALL 1/4 miles precisely marked.
done.

This was done on hiway 27 in woodbridge last week too...
The cars are even, @ hte top of 1st gear you see the STi pull TAD (almost nothing) and as soon as the M3 hits 2nd gear it just pulls more and more and more every second slowly

dan..how come i didnt know about this? WTF MAN!! lol

that guy cant drive..and i know who was driving, and he is insane and abuses the shit outta his car...if the STI driver knew how to drive it'd be even..not 2 cars...

every STI tested his low 13s to 13flat..you know u havent witnessed an M3 hitting 13flat other than that one on the internet!

But i know the M3 will slowly pull up to the STI because of the extra 33HP and the less friction loss, what differential setting did the STI have while racing? it will make a big difference in traction...and overall 1/4mile time.

PS. Moe, cant wait to see this STI!!
