beat a porsche !
...allright it was a boxster......... BUT STILL ! lol
So, i was driving home coming from the gym at around 5-ish. First there's this really young guy (not that i'm old, but this kid looked like 16 or so) that followed me in small streets very very close to my tail. He was driving a Mercedes E class. I did not react and continued to drive normally because i don't want to speed in narrow streets with lots of "give way" signs... After that i'm driving on the main road with two lanes. I see a grey porsche wresling his way through traffic and then he was right behind pushing. I knew he wanted to test my bimmer and i wanted to see what his porsche could do. The lights just turned green when we approached at around 80, the road ahead was clear so i put it in 3rd gear and floored it. At the beginning he somewhat kept up but i was already pulling on him but near the end of 4th gear there was no way he could keep up. he was like 4 car lenghts behind or so. I know he was definately racing, he gave me thumbs up after we slowed down, it was a nice guy. Are those porsche's really that slow?Or was it the driver that sucked ? Anybody who can give some specs ?

LoL, I knew it was a boxter before I even read the post! I drove a 98 boxter back from kingston, I don't think it even had as much pull as my 323is.......

I think my 328i would out run a regular boxster yesterday i had the opprutunity to get a rental boxster for my bday the bimmer gives a way better ride quality and all but i love the way the thing sounds because like the engine is right behind the seats it sounds awesome and having it convertable is awesome i think i feel in love with a convertible now everywhere i would stop at a light people would look and tell me i had a nice car. Bimmers are awesome cars too but I dont really think a bimmer can compare to a porsche they are two totally different types of cars.

So?
My buddie's 39hp Suzuki is quicker than a Boxter. His 'Zuk brand new was about $5000.
Honestly, who cares who you beat on the street?
If you can do the same on the track, I'll give you cred. (real track or even the 1/4mi strip)

Agreed.
The only race I respect are the ones I see at a track like Rolled_Out spanking the C4....
Too many mitigating factors that make a uncontrolled race on the street irrelevant.

don't tell me that you never race against another car on the streets, i know you do
It's not that i'm proud of doing it, and then again i agree that it should not be done when there's a lot of traffic or on risky roads. I just wanted to share a story, like other users. How many on this board actually track their car? I don't think that many do.
