my car was factory underrated by 45 HP at the flywheel...and it's american

it dyno'd stock at the tires, what it should have made at the flywheel.

At a sea-level track, MIR, I ran against a Z06 with 2K miles on his engine. He had DR's on; cut a 1.8 60 ft time and an 11.9 second run. He said he can cut 1.6's with a little practice ... it was a new car for him.

I have no doubt that even on street tires, a person could get a 12.2-12.4 without much difficulty.

I think you are comparing apples to oranges though. You are comparing a sports car (Z06) to a luxury coupe that is sporty (M3). I don't care what BMW says, it is NOT a sports coupe .. it is a luxury coupe that is sporty (IMO). A sports coupe is a GT2, a 996 C4S, Z06, etc.

I used to own a '87 5L LX Mustang.
They only used to be rated at 225 HP, and 300 lbs. torque.
I could run low 14's all day with that thing.
They were a PIA to launch, but once moving, they were quick.
So I don't doubt that they were underrated. I doubt my Mustang could run what it did with 225 HP.

What did the average 5.0 Dyno at?

i dont wanna sound like a uninformed person, but 5Ls are slow, they have absolutley no power up top, and they are too heavy, launching them is bad. IMO not worth getting that car at all.

You’re right about the mid '90 Mustangs.
But the 'late 80's to early 90's were quick.
They were rated at 225 HP, and 300 lbs torque, and only weighed in at 3100 lbs, and geared aggressively.
That car stock would take any BMW short of a M series car, even today.
They are a PIA to launch, but in the hands of an experienced driver, they are formidable opponents on a 1320.

On a road track, they did leave lots to be desired.
The weight distribution on those car's were awful, and over-steered like a greyhound, but nothing some well controlled throttle adjustment couldn't fix....

I'm dying to see someone post how much of a beating a vette can take vs an M3...

Vettes need to be babied, they are known to be built with cheap and low quality parts... yes, they have a big engine, and yes you can upgrade that easily with aftermarket stuff, but reliability of the overall product is known to be an issue...

Regards,
