Stop dissing Bangle already....

..although I must say I like this better

Where did you hear that Bangle worked on the E36?. Styling for the E36 probably began in the late 80's. Bangle didn't sign on with BMW until recently.

No, he was a designer there. Why, would you think BMW would just hire someone out of the blue? Chris Bangle DID work with BMW in the late 80's.

Umm designers are not required to be apart of an organization for long periods of time to lead a design department. In any given automotve company the board of directors chooses designs from many different designers. This answers your question that YES automotive stylist DO get hired out of the blue, especially to do what Bangle was asked to do and that is to change the direction of BMW's styling. In many cases Auto companies don't want designers to stay too long with the company because of stailing ideas, in other words the company execs are worried that styling will not progress but deteriate --this is a reason why designers in general have very lengthly resumes

"His breakthrough came in 1993 with the Fiat Coupe, and was followed in 1994 by the 145. By 1992, Bangle was head of the design centre, but the same year Wolfgang Reitzle offered him the post as director of BMW design at the FIZ in Münich. Since then he has been responsible for models like the Z3, M-Coupe, Z8, Mini and now the new 7-Series."
hmm....OK I was wrong that he worked for BMW in 1980's and that he helped to design the E36... BUT. You can see that he was at BMW for a long time (1992). Looks like a long time to me?

OK so let me get this straight, Bangle's breakthrough came in 1993 with the Fiat Coupe and was followed in 1994 by the 145. By 1992, Bangle was head of the design centre. So Bangle designed a time machine and got the job a BMW in 1992 after his breakthrough with FIAT in 1994. I don't think he was allowed to work for two company's at the same time
Dude where do you get this shit from?
