well 302 at the crank...15% friction loss or w/e it is (according to pay, 10-15%) your going to be pushing 260ish to the wheels..and dude, thats like 70hp more than E36 M3 to the wheels!

A cheaper root is to get the JC cam kit for the 328. With an M3 exhaust you will get 254 hp. And it's naturally aspirated, and it's only about 2-3K. That's the route I'm going with my 2.8... Seems to be most cost effective and gives you slightly better performance than the 3.2L e36 M3 engine...

This will give you more left over to spend on suspension, wheels, breaks, LTW flywheel, etc., etc...

That kit is for the m52b28, not the m54b28 though, right?

I thought there was no 2.8 in the M54 variant... only 3.0 and 2.5...

JazzM is correct. The 2.8 in the E46 is an extension of the M52 family, the M52TU (technical update).
