Need a little info. New engine or FI?

I'm looking for a new engine. The 2.8 isn't cutting it anymore and I want something with more power, but I don't know if I want to turbo it or drop in a new engine.

I was talking to Jon about it, he said engine + installation will run be about $25k, which seems damn high.

I don't want the E46 M3 engine, I was looking more at the other Euro engine but I don't know much about it. It was in the Eurospec E36 M3, correct? Has something like 320hp I think?

Is there anywhere I can buy a used engine?

Why is the installation so expensive? I guess because the engine won't just "drop" in?

Is there anyone with alot of expieriance in engine swaps that I could talk to, like a shop?

Also, how much could I sell my currect engine and tranny for? The engine is in excellent condition, but it does have 150, 000Kms on it. Mostly highway Kms though.

Why not get a AATuning supercharger kit instead?

http://www.aatuning.com/Supercharged...percharger.asp

Less complicated than engine swap plus your pretty much ok now since your over 120,000km

That would be the E36 M3 Evo engine. 3.2L, 321hp.

I say go with the forced induction. Much more cost effective.

Euro evo engine will start at about $8000US, an AA supercharger is like $6000US, an AA Turbo is like $10,000US? Personally I'd just go with a US engine, and work on that, they're like $6-7000CDN, and with another $4500 you can get a nice cam kit that will put you at or close to 300hp, it's still nothing like a euro engine though. You can always sell your current engine too. Depending on what your doing, you can also get a nitrous kit, which are alright if you get a decent kit and use it properly.

Maybe consider just selling your car and buying a 97 M3? Then you get more then just the engine.

If your looking for more power, the cheapest route and best bang for your buck is FI. Doing a euro engine is too expensive, and not worth the time/money/ headaches. For the E36 guys, the cheapest and best thing to do was an E36 M3 swap since it is so "easy". Can an E36 M3 engine go into an E46?

Yes, it's been done before in the states and that one was also supercharged as well

Me and Soldo talked yesterday. I'm thinking the E36 M3 engine now.

Anyone have any information on putting an E36 M3 engine into an E46?

Oh, I didn't realize you had an e46
I dunno how much of a hassle the wiring is going to be, maybe the AA SC may be the way to go for you....

You will lose numerous electronic functions that your car currently has, such as some great diagnostic tools which work with the M52TU.

Get some FI.
