Go.

You'd be stupid to not show up. They can't RAISE your ticket so you have nothing but time and gas to lose. Plead NOT GUILTY if the cop isnt there. They'll also offer you a deal right on the spot before you speak to the judge if you speak to the prosecution first.

Question

I got a speeding ticket for 15km over... (reduced from 120 in a 60zone) and i just paid the 55$ fine and got on with my life. My insurance didn't go up at all.

- I thought insurance only goes up if u lose points! and points don't go until u've gone OVER 15km/h over the speed limit.

Usually when you go, the cop has arranged the court date so he deals with all his tickets on that day. If you can get it changed, for whatever reason, usually he won't show up to that. Especially for $40.

****, i got a ticket today, $50 95 in 80 zone, (reduced from 110 in 80), what should i do? friend says fight it, but how? and what if he shows?

the car is under my sister for insurance so she's sort of pissed that hers might go up now (she has clean record)...no pts deducted either...

chitown, read back of the ticket.
Plea NOT GUILTY.
Also her insurance won't go up, it is you who got the ticket, not her. so tell her to relax and plea not guilty

The car is under her though. I think I am just going to pay it, it's only for 15 over and no points deducted don't think I'd get much less UNLESS the cop didn't show (got pulled over in Oakville on Trafalgar by a WHITE VOLVO...)

It doesn't matter who owns the car.
It wise to plea NOT GUILTY
you see you got nothing to lose. only gain.
If you are lucky, cop won't show up. No fine, no driving history, no insurance problems, next time if you speed again and got caught, cops got nothing to see on your record and will go easier on you.
If cop is there, your fine will be reduced by 40-50% and you gain some time.
If you pay now. Well it will be on your history for 3 years. Who knows what gonna happen in those 3 years, maybe you will get another car, but insurace won't take you since you got that dumb 15 over ticket.
my advice FIGHT IT.

I read you can rebook and it also lowers the chance of the cop not being there.

Though I want to know, when you do go to court, what do you do? Never been obviously..
