I have hit a speedo indicated 250KM/H (i.e. burried the needle). My tire size is correct (225-45-17). I have a 3:15 rear diff, dinan stage I and an intake.

Well not perfect.

205/60/15 (stock) to 215/45/17 is correct (0.3%)
205/60/15 (stock) to 225/45/17 is (1.2%)

250 would be 247 but at that speed it's not accurate anyways. If you have a GPS it would be best to use that. I've clocked my friends teg at 240km/h accurately and mine at 192km/h just last week (not top speed, ran out of highway)

Yes, a GPS will track your speed more acurately than the speedo.
BMWs are notorious for having optimistic speedos.
I've had the speedo indicate 270+km/h on my M5 at the cutoff and my Streetpilot 3 GPS logged a max speed of 262km/h.

200Kms/hr in my 525i rollin' on the 18's the day I got my exhaust put on. I could have pushed further but I am currently one ticket away from an "interview" according to the MTO.
I was really expecting some higher numbers from some of you people.

147mph @ 5600?rpms in my 1987 325is. it could have buried the rpms but i was comming up to traffic. also have gone 120 miles in less than one hour going to port aransas, tx. the roads out there are straight, wide, and flat; lets not forget about hardly any pigs. the cars running 15s and stock 4.11 rear end. that was a rush 140mph for around 45mins, i have never done that in any other car before. i used to have a civic si, that made it from austin, tx to san antonio in aroud 23mins, running 135mph the whole way racing a nissan maxima. both cars had four people in them and we were smogin out. but on the real what is so fun about topping a car out, i'd rather top a car out in the turns. there is nothing like holding a line at just enough speed where the car wants to just start sqirming out of control just to have to turn the other way.

ive got a short ratio tranny so i top out at 220, but it`s getting there that matters. 100-220 takes about 16-18seconds

148 MPH in my 95 M3. Could have maybe squeezed 5 or so more out of here but it wasn't worth it. Did it on 97C outside Kelowna, this new 330Ci and I travelled 97 km's in just under 25 min.

Highest speed in my E36 316i (M40 engine) was 225km/h, the rev limiter was pushed up to 7000rpm, in 5th I took it off the clock (clock goes to 220km) This was the help of my Eaton supercharger!

Fastest I driven in any car was my dad's E34 M5 with a chip. I took her to 260km/h, couldn't go faster due to the governor!
