e30......drop-in vs intake

i have an 89 325i.....

im undecided about whether a drop-in filter would be better than a cone filter intake....

i figure that an intake would be pointless and worse off without a heatshield.......but, even with a heatshield, there would still be the restriction of the afm .....

when the drop-in is considered....K&n would be my first choice,...but in the aug issue of eurotuner, they dropped in a ITG ProFilter in their 89 "is"......that filter along with a conforti chip brought the e30 up to 185....

what do u guys think...... intake or drop-in ?? k&n or ITG ProFilter ?

I put a K&N cone on mine and went out to Home Depot and bought some materials and made a custom heat sheild and also made a scoop right into the intake bay. I like the sound and it has opened up my e30.
It stays pretty cool inside the intake Bay. You won't get the sound from a drop in if that is what you are looking for.

you could always upgrade to m30 afm and bigger TB as well as the cone filter if your looking for a slight performance gain.

BLAZEDe30: if you are looking to buy an ITG drop-in, I highly suggest www.ultimatecarparts.com / 514-384-8584. They are the official canadian distributor....and they have good pricing.

.....a good idea (if u are willing to get rid of high beams)..... get custom tubing to the high beam and put filter in the hole

drop in K&N would be safest.

but the pod sounds cool when u open the throttle.

but there's almost no space to fabricate a heatshield in my 325i cos the abs is blocking the way and the hoses and etc.. grr.

i'll just leave the pod there for now..

again, it sounds cool to have a pod.

Pics as promised

Hey guys ABS isnt a problem.... It can work, but you have to move the POD out of the engine bay....I have a 325is so i have the M-tech II front bar, their is a horn and foglight housed there...you may have to move the horn depending on the size of the POD....

have a look
