G-Tech input

Hey guys..

I just bought a g-tech pro performance meter. My question is anyone have expenrience with this baby? Are they any good? I just can't pass this one cuz it's cheap compared to their price at the website. I hope I can see some improvements on my mods before I do another ones. BTW, will the cops hassle me for this on my windshield? This thing looks like a radar detector!!!

PS: sorry had to put this in need for speed since i'm thinking 1/4 mile stuff heheh

i have it and i used it the first two weeks or months all the time, when i found a nice long road. but now it's just sitting in my glovebox wasting space.

the book says it's + or - .1 sec in the 1/4 mile. i used it while on the track and the g-tech was .5 sec faster then the track time. but who knows if it was leveled 100%

how much r u paying for it??? i got mine like 2 years ago for $240!

about $60 + $4 insurance USD very cheap compared to the gtech website. Plus it's free shipping.

Check it out. Yes it's ebay but check out his feedback, I only buy from excellent sellers.

appearently they have very consistant results after multiple runs, so if you keep going to the same section of road and doing runs there, you should see improvements after mods and stuff. But they will always be off compared the track.

I'm actually considering buying either a Race-Technology AP-22, or if I notice I have too much money laying around, a DL-90.

I have had my G tech for a couple years now and it comes in very handy...

Make sure you do your runs on the same road cause it can really vary your Time....

For that price its amazing... i paid 130 like 2 years ago

i just bought one this past weekend at NOPI. I've had the old G-TECH for a while now and love it... looking forward to using the new one on my GT2. Anyone interesting in buying my old one for $150 OBO?

Jeff,

Don't leave it on your windshield. 1st off, your just asking for someone to smash your windshield and steal it, happened to 2 friends of mine. 2nd, the cops will obviously hassle you for it. The only reason it's there is to test 0-100/100-0 and 1/4 mile which means speeding on public roads. Keep it in your glovebox and only take it out when you use it.

I had problems with the suction cup on mine, it would never stick. I had to use so much tape on the windshield. I hope the newer ones actually stick!

Last year when I tested my 1/4 mile and 0-100 it was very consistant. Got 16.1, 16.4, 16.2 and my car was stock, 0-100 in 8.8 seconds which isn't too bad for a stock 318, considering they are supposed to do 0-100 in 9.8-10 seconds and 1/4 mile is 16.6, not much change in the 1/4 mile, but BMW manual was way off in the 0-100! I should G-Tech my car before the winter, with all my mods I'm sure it will make a huge improvement.

Anyways, drive through the road first at normal speeds to make sure it's more or less level. Then make at least 3 runs if your clutch hasn't started to slip.

Good luck and let us know your results

Bry

I tried it again after that when I wasn't on my winter wheels. The traction was way better. With the winters I could spin my tires for the full 1st gear all the way to redline.

I even got 15.8 one time, but I hit a bump and I'm sure that threw off the leveler.

Back then I had a Magnaflow muffler and an intake that was sucking in hot air. I don't think that's really considered "performance" modifications. Now I have a Dinan chip, full cat back exhaust, bored out TB and a proper intake that keeps at a good 20-25 degrees which is consistant with outside temperature.

dude, I get 16.4, so you're saying your car is faster than mine?

How can you be getting faster times than me.

Your car runs 16.4? Are you sure about that? No offense but that doesn't sound right. A BMW 318 runs 16.6 stock. Your car is only .2 seconds faster than me 1/4 mile? That's kind of a joke.

You have a larger displacement engine yes, but my car is lighter, has lighter wheels, it's 5 speed and not auto and I have more mods. Your's is single cam which is good for torque and pulling power. I have no idea if my car is actually faster than yours (at your current state) 1/4 mile. But those are the times I got.

read the thread man, that's what I got, my stock numbers are like 16's, I have a chip and a muffler, but then I have big wheels and subs which pulls my speed down. I doubt I have that much of a gain off stock.
