Angry Internet Worm...Read!!

Hi All,

I sent this note out to my company today...apply this ASAP to your computer....this will affect anyone and everyone on the Internet..It's a bad bug...you computer will reboot randomly..follow the fixes below...

E.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As of today, all computers connected to the internet can be infected with this worm in as little as 15 minutes if they do not have the proper patches. This worm spreads itself using vulnerability in Microsoft Windows 2000 and XP and your home computer may not be protected. When a computer is infected with the worm, the computer will reboot itself at random.

It may be necessary to prevent your computer from shutting down if you are in the middle of patching an infected computer.

If your computer is infected and you want to prevent it from shutting down:
1) Double-click the clock (usually bottom-right corner of your screen), the "Date/Time Properties" window will appear..
2) Change the date to a previous day (2 days ago should suffice) and click “OK”.

You will notice after this the shutdown timer will start counting down from 2 days instead of the initial 30 seconds.

Once your computer is patched, you can download a removal utility from Symantec to remove the worm from your computer.

Provided below is a link to Microsoft's security bulletin where you can download the patch and run it on your home computer to protect it.

Read about the worm
