valve adjustment

Just curious as to how much a valve adjustment should cost? Yes I know it can be a DIY job, but I'm not sure I feel comfortable doing it!
Also, I need a good place in the GTA to pick up a few parts. Such as a timing belt and tensioner, a water pump, rear brake pads, fuel filter. And possible some bushings for the front end of my car. Anyone have connections that could get me a good deal?!
