LOL, I'm the lucky bloke with the busted tranny/transfer case. I was cruising on the 401 yesterday then I heard all this metallic racket (imagine the 6/49 machine, but instead of ping-pong balls, nuts and bolts!). At first I thought it was this big transport truck beside me, then I realized it was me after I passed the truck and the sound didn't go away. I managed to pull off the highway safely onto a major street where I waited for a tow truck. By this time, pressing the gas resulted in zero acceleration and a lot of metallic grinding noise.
I called both Chuck's Auto and Munich Motors, but neither would provide an estimate over the phone. Of course, they want to inspect the damage before providing a quote. So I guess it comes down to a coin toss who I go to?
Just to clarify, is there such a thing as a
new transfer case? I was under the impression the newest you can get is one that is remanned.
Anyhow, any help appreciated.
