Well I am not gonna argue beyond what I know. I have a 3.91 diff on now and that is LSD, it locks up hard core. SO maybe it is LSD, with a less lockup.

there is 3.15 LSD diff from 95 M3 also there is 3.15 non-LSD diff that came on standard 325i(s)
So if it came off his car it is non-LSD

alrighty guys. The diff is 3.15. It is an open diff, it may have 5-10% lockup, but it does spin inependantly.
Sickfinga - sorry man you are wrong. And open diff did not come standard on the 325.
my 325 had a 3.15 LSD on it before I replaced it with a 3.91.
This diff is an open diff, from an e36 m3.
all e36 diff's are transferable. The M3 has bigger anxle flanges tothe diff, however they can be swapped out.
If anyone out there needs a diff, here it is for ya...
I hope this clarifies things for some people?

mrbobolina, ok lets rephrase that to LSD and non-LSD diffs.
1. E36 M3 never came with non-LSD diffs. E36 m3s came with 3.15 on 5spd and 3.23 on 5spd auto in 1995. In 1996-1999 they came with 3.23 on 5spd and 3.38 on 5spd auto. All those diffs are LSD.
2. E36 325 5 spd came with non-LSD 3.15 diffs as standard, e36 325/328 with AUTO gearbox came with 3.91 LSD diffs.
It is true all E36 diffs are transferable EXCEPT ti's.

With that said... This diff is an open diff. it came off of an e36 m3. so it has the oversized m3 flanges for the axles. The gear ratio is 3.15.

How can it be from e36 m3 if it never came on m3????
Unless owner of e36 m3 changed his LSD on non-LSD diff.
