I wish BMW's were in the ALMS to give those Porsches a run for their money!

Well hopefully J.P. Montoya will do good in F! this year!

ALMS changed their rules this season regarding cars and production numbers, basically porsche told them to penalize BMW for racing a non production based engine and ALMS listened because almost all the cars raced are porsches. Basically they made the M3GTR non competitive by giving it a 100kg or so weight penalty and very small intake restrictors. But I have a feeling BMW will be back next season.

The only good thing to come from this decision is that BMW has a great ad in the newest Car and Driver. The top half of the page shows the M3GTR going around corner and says "2001: We rewrite the history books," then the bottom half shows the same corner, but no car and says "2002: They rewrite the rule book."

I saw that add in the Car and Driver after reading an article elsewhere about how the m3gtr won 7 of 10 last year, i understand why they changed the rules, gotta have some sort of competition
