Painting Front, Side, and Rear Moldings...
I have a black E36 4 door and I'm changing the M3 kit on it from fiberglass to the real M3 kit, cuz the fiberglass one I have now is SH*T. It looks like garbage. I hate fiberglass bodykits.. bad experences with them! lol Anywhoos, I wanted to get the M3 front bumper Moulding, M3 side door Mouldings, and the rear bumper moldings on the car painted over when I take it in for my paintjob soon (same colour). Think it will look good? or leave it the plastic look?

Is there anything wrong with fibreglass sideskirts and rear bumper? or is the problem mainly with the fibreglass front?

Nothing wrong with the skirts at all, I'm very picky when it comes to cars. I like the real look. I can tell the diff between real and fiberglass, maybe thatz what bothers me. If you have the eye for it you can tell its fiberglass, but most ppl never even notice.

I say do it! It looks soooo nice and clean.
The only reason not to do it is because if anyone bumps your car, you'll need to repaint the moldings

Sweet thanx for the input djcontra. I think it looks nice and clean too. I heard that the paint can peel after like 2 years on the moldings if you paint over them cuz itz not a smooth surface. Thatz why I'm debating on doing it or not. I think I'll most likely do it anywayz. lol

Yeah, I'm thinking of painting my moldings as well - do you have a place that will do a good job?

European Autobody (Mississauga BMW's bodyshop), I almost shat my pants when I saw the quality of work they do. lol It's EXACTLY showroom paint. This place is a big bodyshop and CLEAN. They paint Ferrari's, BMW's and Masarati's from what I saw there. They would know what to do. I hate small paint shops. Don't trust anyone of them anymore! They prooved what kinda work they can do. Don't go to Downtown BMW's bodyshop.... they are crap. and so is Budds bodyshop. Budds is also VERY expensive. If you go to European Autobody talk to Manuel, he helped me out, nice guy! (416)679-8722

Wow. I just had some warranty stuff done on my front quarter panel (surface rust under wheelwells) from the dealer (BMW Sauga) - and it matched the stock paint - PERFECTLY!
How much were you quoted for the molding paint job?

Actually I haven't got a price quoted for just the moldings cuz I'm going in for a full paintjob soon and I'll get them painted at the same time for nothing extra! They do an awsome job as you can tell! Too bad there aren't that many bodyshops like them around anymore! Too many bodyshops these days fak around! I don't trust small bodyshops anymore. I've got my experience from them, and itz not a good one. lol

On a black car it will look sweeet you can notice the difference between plastic and black paint easily. Itz a cleaner look. I think itz worth it to pay the extra $ to get it painted. Just get someone who knows what they're doing. I personally don't trust smaller bodyshops anymore due to experience. Hard to find a good bodyshop these days. Just go to BMW and get their bodyshop to paint it. You can trust Mississauga BMW's bodyshop 110%. European Autobody. They do amaaaazing work!!!
