e46 wipers not working

Hello,
just did some searching around and didnt really find much.

I have a 2003 325ci converitble and my wiper stop working today. The water sprays but it doesnt wipe. No matter which position the switch is put on...

any ideas? is it a cheap fix and can i do anything in the mean time. With this crazy winter i dont want to risk driving with no wipers until i have time to get it to the shop.

Thanks!

Could be anything from the motor, assembly or stalk. Only way to know is to get it looked at by someone who can determine that (should only take them a matter of minutes really. It is not a cheap or quick fix if the motor or assembly btw. You can buy used one's but on the E46 there are I believe 2 styles or better said, mounting styles for the motor so be sure of what you buy.

Would take an experienced mechanic a handful of hours 3+ or - to do the job and a used assembly with a good motor is $1-2XX+++ so.... not a first timer type of job, tight spaces, special tools to a degree to remove drivers side nut on the wiper...let a bmw garage do it.

30min job to anyone who has done it more than once!
No "special tools" really, other then a big socket for the linkage bolts, and one 10mm bolt.

We have several good tested units available for $150 (linkage and motor), so it might be cheaper to replace than to pay to diagnose it.

I agree of course but you are a special case Phil, the average person couldn't get the trim or arms off in 30 minutes lol
