They sure do....I got a 2007 3.0 in 6 speed. Very fun to drive. The tranny is not as good as the one in my 2004 330ci as I had to get it replaced already. I still had warranty so it only cost me $50. With the 6 speed manual it is very quick compared to Auto. As long as it shifts smoothly and has no 1 or 2nd gear issues its good to go and will last. Bump for a good price and a rare gem. Too bad the 3.0si don't come in manual.

The problem is not the transmission; its the same as the E46, and so is 90% of the driveline, BUT the X3 is much bigger, so many components fail MUCH quicker than a 325xi or 330xi.

I really think its a transmission. Either not made for X3's weight or design. I had a 2001 325ci 5-speed and still have a 2004 330ci 6 speed (which should have the same tranny)...the new tranny BMW put in (brand new, I checked) still has a grindy 2nd gear and 3 gear in the high RPM. It shifts very smooth (which was the problem with the original one) but I still feel 2nd gear grindy on the up shift, but if you down shift to 2nd it has no issues. Also if you are in second and its grinding a bit (you feel vibrations under you) and you put the clutch in and out of 2nd gear it is gone, so its not diff or bushings. Im sure this is normal and all the X3 manuals have it but all im saying is that this manual tranny was not made for the X3, which I think is what you are saying also. The X3 is almost 900lbs more than the e46.

I drove many automatic X3s for months before finding a manual one and manual is the way to go. Much faster and more responsive. only the 3.0si auto is a bit better cause of the power even in auto.

Bump for a good deal.
