Spec E46

For anyone interested in e46s and racing, there is a new Spec e46 race class being developed.

Check out some details at their website:
www.spece46.com

Personally I am interested in the idea and the 8legsRacing team is currently contemplating building one and maybe hitting up a few events.

I used to live in Connecticut, and have been doing lots of events with NASA since 2010. I've been subtly trying to convince the Northeast region to run some events in Canada. The bulk of their members are from NJ. They tend to run WGI once per year. The NJMP tracks are great, but they felt like a haul even from Connecticut. I think NASA Mid-Atlantic is the epicenter of SpecE46 at this point. Again, VIR and NASA MA are great, just far away.

The vision for the SpecE46 class seems to fill a pretty important gap between Spec Miata/SpecE30 and GTS. My budget will definitely keep me in SpecE30 for the forseeable future, which is fine with me. I really like SpecE30's field size, competition, and people/attitude. SpecE46 will definitely cost a lot more than SpecE30, but will offer similarly tight competition at higher speeds.

It will be interesting how this shakes out. Maybe my daily driver will be a donor someday.

I'd love to see it gain some traction up here as well, because right now, I agree it is far away.

But we will see what happens!
