Came with the car. The PO was an avid Ebayer, glad he's back to defiling Audi's (the M3 was "undriveable" in snow).

This works only if there have been less than 5 keys "issued" on your car... after that I believe you need an AK90 or similar to delete missing/invalid keys from the EWS.

Yeah all my BMW's with snow tires have never been an issue in the snow. 50/50 weight distribution, responsive and communicative steering go a long way. Not subaru level traction but once you're moving it's about turning and stopping.

I'll snap some pics of the key when I'm at the shop later today. Ivan, how much does your guy charge?

So the solution for having blanks cut so far is only the guy that propr'one uses or did I miss something here?

I can't believe that no one cuts BMW keys?

I too have to blanks to be cut for my E36

i think most locksmiths can cut keys, they just can't program EWS. like tomek said there is a procedure to program the keys yourself

Pretty much anyone can cut a BMW key. Getting EWS aligned is the problem. You can not do it yourself unless you got the tools. The only thing you can program is the remote for the alarm/center locking. The other solution if you got an old key, you can take it apart, remove the EWS chip and put it into a new key.

So I gather that these are my only options?

1. Go to Maranello BMW and have one duplicate made for $64 with a possible waiting time of a MONTH? to actually get the key.

2. Go to the guy that propr'one uses and buy the key from him directly and get it cut there.

3. Or go to "Keys4Cars" in Etobicoke which I assume no one has used before or can vouch for?

let me know, Thanks guys,

-Rich

I've tried to contact keys4cars via email and phone and never got a response back... not sure if they're in business anymore or not.

I don't need to worry about EWS all I need is the blanks that I already have to be cut from my master.
