e39 Auxilary input??

Hey guys, im a music finatic, and it's really annoying having to burn cd's and i dont use an apple products so i dont want to go the dice route.

I did a bit of research and i think it only made me even more confused, i believe i have the bm53 radio (navigation) And its a 2001 m5, and i heard only 02' and 03' models came with the aux input pre wired,

Whats the best way to wire/ instal aux input? my main goal is to also go with a bluetooth solution like this guy did:

i have a kit that i am wiling to give it to your for cheap it is the same concept as the dice unit but in stead of the ipod connection it has a normal AUX cable a usb port and also an SD card reader. keep in mind that installing this unit will cause you to loos the CD changer

if your car was made from 97 till 00 you will have the round connectors for the stereo if it is form 01 to 03 you will have the square ones thats why when you buy these types of adapters its important to know what type of connection you have
i have both types of wiring harness so it really doesn't matter if you want my unit

ONE main thing, you have to look for the production date of the radio itself and not the car. I suggest you pull the whole radio unit out and check it out before taking any steps. if the AUX is built in, then I recommend using it.. You will get the best quality audio over any other FM transmitters n whatnot. That is from my own experience, idk about what other people think but AUX worked perfect for me.

first determine which pinouts you got...

The old one: 17 Pin

The new one:
http://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/att...3-20pinout.jpg

If you are planning to do this yourself then I am assuming you're a bit handy.

get yourself a 3 pin audio jack, something like this:
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/1-4-Stereo-En...339adbc&_uhb=1

cut the wires at the end and insert in those little plastic connectors, the singular plastic thingies.. (yes I don't know what those are called)

IMPORTANT: I don't have a navigation radio on my bimmer but I am assuming its going to be the same for you. YOU HAVE TO HAVE the AUX cables plugged in a phone/mp3 player or whereever you plan to play music from before hitting the "mode" button.

if you have any other questions and you wish to proceed with this, feel free to ask & PM me.

thanks nizoo! im going to use the unit Wolf_e39 has because i really don't need a cd changer if i can use Aux and usb, but if i'm still not happy i will follow the DIY and try it out!
