Found a cupholder!

Just found what could be the best cupholder design for the E30...

http://www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-E30-M3-3...31065979500%26

it's a bit pricey IK but I have'nt seen anything better yet. No idea on build quality or anything else but thought I'd share it.

go to Canadian Tire and get the Silver Honda cup holder which attaches to your vent. I put them in my e30..works great and they are vented so the air flows through if you have your heat on. cost ya $10.00

Only concern with the coffee so high up is the inevitable slop over from our wonderfully well maintained roads here in fordville [where the car is king] sloshing all over the radio/heat controls/obc/ etc. with it down low the only thing to get wet is maybe the shifter boot and that can be wiped off... plus I don't really trust things clipped to the vents I've seen the vents/clips break too many times... good idea though...

Looking at their design further I think I can improve it... check back in the new year.

True. Downtown (*cough* bloor street) is like driving on 500 year old cobblestones. Looks good though, but i wonder how much of a pain that'll be with a 5 speed - it looks really close to the where the shifter would be and like you could accidentally punch your cup going into third.

You should see some stretches of Kingston Rd. it's like you're driving on an old roman road... 500 yr old cobblestones would be like a pool table by comparison.

The clearance when shifting is a concern for me too and one of the things I'm going to look at, though from the picture it appears 3rd would come up right between the two cups I'm thinking 1 and 5 could be the real issues.

How's it for clearance during shifting (if you've got a 5 speed)?

Can you post a picture of it in your manual shift car?

No clearance problems even with a big drink,Z3 short shifter btw.

I have this quick video from an event,HD and full screen kinda gives an idea of the space.

Looks decent but where do you plug your charger or store the change for coffee?

I'll second that. I hate driving down Bloor, especial between Bay and Spadina. They are replacing the sidewalks almost everywhere downtown but they were in good condition. It's the road that seriously needs some attention, it pisses me off!

You can order it with a charger,I didn't want one.In front of the cup holder is plenty of room for change, you can see an ipod cable in there on the vid.

Thanks for the video apexr... looks like that was a fun event... I'm jealous of your map light mirror... you're right in full screen you can see there is a fair bit of clearance in front of the shifter but I'm still curious what it'd look like with a med/lrg Timmy's in there...

I've mounted my cup holder on the far left vent so it's outta the way of anything. now mind you I don't drink jumbo coffees so this works for me and economical. the other thing is to get the center arm rest with cup holders. usually cost about 100.00 used or 250.00. although it calls for NLA at the dealership. apparently they are still available.

I will admit having the holder up higher will sometimes eject liquid onto you or door panel or carpet. lol

I dunno...$10.00 vs. 10.00 and up?
