Thank you! I had a 528 sport, had to be totaled because some "idiot" - to be polite - arsoned the inside. I was devastated - i looved the car. It's been a long process, I've been looking for almost a year now, and I'm going to see one this coming weekend - very hopeful

Good luck with your search. There is a 2002 on Kijiji in London, that looks interesting.

I have also been looking for a 2001 - 2003 530i or 540i with sport package. There is nothing available in the Atlantic provinces. And the 2 or 3 cars that do come up tend to be rust buckets with 260,000 kms on them. So I have started looking further afield...

Yes they seem so hard to find, especially a clean one...

Is this the one in London?

I asked the opinion from some of the guys here on another thread...they all felt it's not a true M, since if you look close at the bumper there is uneven gaps, maybe aftermarket or some damage...

Good luck to you too

Yeah that is one I was thinking of. The M badge on the back of it set off my "spidey senses". I didn't have a good feeling about that car. The other car you posted which you are going to look at seems nice too. I was thinking about emailing/calling him. But I will hold off. Let us know if you buy it, or why you didn't.

It is just so difficult pulling the trigger on a vehicle that is 2000km away without taking it for a test drive. What will make it easier for me is I just want a Sport with decent mileage which has been properly maintained. They are easier to find that a real M.

I will let you all know how the weekend turn out, if I go for it or not. Hopefully driving 4 hrs to see it will be worth it.

Thanks for the link. That is one of the cars in Ontario that I have been considering. Do you happen to know anything about the car? Or did you just see the car for sale and think of this thread?

Does anyone know of a good independent BMW shop in the Hamilton area that I could get a PPI done if I were to get serious about this car?

Beach Auto on upper james has been very good to me.
I purchased a car from Otto's in the past, they are helpfull and then definitely know their BMW's.
My only complaint with Beach and Otto's is that they are kind of pricy. Having said that, sometimes it is worth spending the extra money for the knowledge

I saw the car in person...it's for sale for a long time...
price was almost $12.000 last year...
I bought a car from Otto's a year ago...nice guys
I was thinking to buy that 540(color+M package is my dream) but it is an auto...and I need a 6 speed
I don't know any shop...maybe Budds...

Update: We got the car plus we worked a deal with the owner and got a set of new nokian winter tires.

Car drives like a dream ! - definatly worth the search for the M package.

Very happy and feels great to be back on a BMW

P.S. where can I find the shadowline window trim?

Which car did you get? If it is an E39 M-tech, then it already has high gloss shadowline trim from the factory.

It's the 530i M-tech in Fort Erie. It does have the high gloss trim, but in two little spots it has little bubbles. Eventually I would like to replace them before they get worse, but I can't seem to find them.
