I like the little moon guy.

It's worth whatever you think it's worth as I assume there aren't many in it's condition left. Either way, I'm happy and it would just leave me with impure thoughts surrounding E34 M5s and E36 4DR M3s.

Hey guys... I just stumbled on this thread. I bought the 400k beast. Neat to see the build sheet here. FYI...Prolly the only thing that didn't need attention was the motor. It does need vanos seals since the idle is "impatient" during warm up. It hasn't stalled at all and is super smooth when cold and warmed up.

I made a post about my winter beater pix here http://www.maxbimmer.com/forums/show...=68226&page=19

I'll start a thread with the gory details of the semi rebuild. I spent about 2 weeks on this car and spent about 1500 on it on top of purchase for 1600. For now I have to do a nice cream run with the kids... In this weather! ....we're driving the touring...hit 410,000 km today!

I guess my offer of 10k was too low.

Maybe I should flip mine! For 12k, I could think of a lot more unique rides....

There are plenty of reasonably priced 528 tourings in the states. As usual, canadian sellers far overvalue what they have. 5-7k seems to be the range for a pretty good (but not perfect) 528it manual. You could probably pay someone to do the shipping/importing and still come in way below that hilarious 12k one.

Some already sold, but examples from the past year on BFc alone with a 2 minute search:

I'm planning to get one myself this year and I'm not even bothering to look in canada. The e39s don't quite have the cult pricing that the e46s are starting to see now.

Thanks for this!! I am definitely picking one up from the US now. Selection of well cared for cars is much better and pricing is fair even with exchange, duties, taxes etc. I am not in a huge rush so I will keep my eyes open on the forums as well as ebay and Autotrader (US version).

Cheers!

Anyone still looking? My unicorn got nailed by a Camry. Insurance wrote it off but I do have an option to buy it back. I'll drive it home tomorrow and have a closer look but it doesn't look like much damage. I'm not sure what I want to do... fix, sell, give up???

You can see pix towards the end of this thread...

at the time of making this thread there were only 2 or 3 listed on trader.

The rarity and lack of maintenance by many is having me re thinking this whole idea. an e91 makes a lot more sense. though obviously more $.

Tell us more about those two. Did you go see them? What condition? Mileage? Any upgrades?

Wow, those numbers are interesting on the manual tourings. I have one of the Ontarians. '99 528iT, Silver with Grey interior, shadow line, M wheel, Sport suspension, Sport seats, Style 5s. I retrofitted factory Xenons and M front bumper. When I bought it 10 years ago, I had spent a year looking for one all over the US, then one day right in Toronto, it pops up on Autotrader with every option I wanted.

It's my wife's car and she absolutely **LOVES** it. I offered to buy her a manual E60 touring a few times and she said there's nothing wrong with my car. No thanks. It is by far the best vehicle we have owned in terms of utility. Loads of space and we load up bikes and a carrier on the roof. I've bought home an M50 in the back of it once, the self levelling suspension just ate it up. Countless trips to the states and the M52tu just keeps on humming.

The only challenge I have is that my wife just drives it as a DD without any real appreciation of how rare it really is. She won't be driving my '02.

Shot of it back in the day beside the e34 touring. My son photoshopped some RSs and slammed it in one of the more recent shots.
