LSD diff fluid

Hey everyone,

Just need some advice on diff fluid...

While its not a full out track car, I have been taking it to the track and lately, I'm noticing my diff getting chatty under load... Even while going straight...

I put in some redline 75W90 in there 2 years or so ago... Is it time for new diff fluids?

Also, is there anything that's readily available in Canada? redline is hard to come by here,... I had to special order it last time...

I'm near Windsor, Ont. so I'm debating crossing the border in order to get some at O'reilly's or something... Or get some thing that's just as good locally if I can find it...

I change mine once a year at least, they don't have alot of fluid so it wears out quickly with heat.

Canadian Tire sells Royal Purple 75w90 gear oil, but any gear oil that's SAE90 and API GL-5 should work fine.

ok, I'll go with royal purple... Does it need friction modifiers, redline had it already in there?

Need to get this done before Thursday, going to grand bend for another OTD... Just came back from Waterford Hills in Michigan, that was a fun track...

Also blew a rad hose to, so going to need to replace my motor mounts, I got a spare rad hose in there temporarily and have a coolant flush done (actually its a water flush now ) I think I did like 10 trips or so to the washroom filling up water bottles to get my car home...

Lesson learned... always bring extra coolant hoses to track days...

I've been using Castrol Hypoy-C 80w90. No need to add friction modifiers.

I have been very happy with the solid motor and transmisson mounts (umhv not metal) in my track car, got them from condor speed shop, might want to look into those if you need to do them. No excess vibration with them

+1 for Royal Purple 75w90. That's all I've run so far with great success.

well, the crappy tire here didn't have RP, then I checked partsource, ended up getting redline 75W90 with friction modifier... hopefully she will hold up at the OTD tomorrow

I'll give that a shot...

If not, try again with RP, if not, then diff rebuild is needed...

anyone going to OTD @ grand bend tomorrow?

I want to, but I don't have any comp tires and my all seasons (which only maybe have 2000KMs on them) will fall apart if I do another lapping day on them. Got them pretty hot the last time I went out. Thinking about coming out though. My boss is running his firebird and has never gone lapping before.

I'll be the red E30 with metal tucked in bumpers if you show up... I'll be with a Porsche, an E46 M3, an E36 and 2 other cars... all coming up from Chatham...
