Headlight help

Hi my bmw currently has installed stock halogen headlights. I was wondering if someone could help to differientiate the terminology? Ive heard of Xenon, bi xenon, HID, projector etc etc. And im quite confused.

I was told not to go with HID's due to that they dont install and work nicely. But then im heard very vague definitions of xenon and bi-xenon. Are they the same as projectors?

Any help on clearing this up would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Projector means it uses a lens in front of the bulb. This can be Xenon or Halogen, usually xenon.

Reflector is the old kind, and is usually halogen. Xenon bulbs in these don't work well and tend to blind other drivers.

Bi-xenon means it has high and low beams. This uses a shade that moves down when you want high beams.
Non bi-xenon lights will have halogen high beams in separate reflectors.
