That's an Aerodynamic package out of an accessory catalog. That stuff is never installed at the factory. It could've been installed by a dealer prior to the initial delivery, but you'll never know.

Thanks for the info sir. I thought it having the double layer glass in the doors and rear made
it the protection package. Is there a difference between protection and armoured? Also does
the build sheets specifically state the number of 1996 specific built for the US market?

Double pane glass is standard on all 750il. It's there to reduce noise and to stop windows from fogging up. There was an option for protective windows, but it is for theft prevention. It will not stop bullets. BMW did offer a bullet resistant E38 in the US, it was called Protection. It could withstand small arms fire. A more hardcore version of the Protection was called Security, it could stop AK47 and small explosives.

This is all of them, not just the Aero package. There are 24 cars with the Aero package

775 were build for the US market. 291 (39 M Sport) manual, 484 (62 M Sport) automatic.

The most rare option in this car is the option S4MGA - Int. mouldings aluminium glacier-silver. It was installed on 336 out of 29,892 cars.

P.S. Do you still have the VIN of your E55. I can now get the same data for the Mercedes. Not many models are available right now, but I got worldwide data for the E55s.
