what does the heater work on level 4 only?

i have the 1991 bmw 318i and the heater works on level 4 only how can i fix this problem?

Most likely blower motor resistor pack I'm not too sure about the e30 but it happens on the e36 so that's some thing you can look into

Blower motor resistor needs to be replaced happened to my E36

youll find the fix on pelican parts website .. you remove the small panel just behind your engine .. and in there is a resistor paclk you swap and everythings all fine and dandy .. remember same procedure when your blower squeals like a pig

Yup, Blower motor resistor, Theres an overheat protection circuit and they usually let go, and it only works on zero or four. Replace that with the above mentioned info and your golden!
