urgent help needed :(

how in the world do i manually open the gas door ????

this weekend i gave my car to my cousin because his was in the shop for repairs. when he gave it back to me he told me the cigaret lighter has stopped working and that he checked the fuses in the trunk to try to fix it
now i do not know what he did exactly but my cigaret lighter is not working, the light comes on but there is no power to it, my head unit every time i turn on the lights the unit is supposed to switch to night mode and light up all the buttons but in stead it keeps switching back and forth between day/night every few seconds and all the lights of the unit flash, as if it doesn't know either to make the change or not and lastly the fuel door is completely shut
i have locked and unlocked the car multiple times with no success.

all i can think of is he mixed the fuses somehow. can anyone with a 2000 528I please post a pic of how the fuses in the trunk are supposed to be so i can check what happened do you guys have any other idea on what might have cause this

thanks for any help

I have a suggestion to open your fuel door. Give it a try.

Open your trunk.
Open the right hand side interior trim panel.

Locate the green pull handle in the picture

Pull the green handle towards the taillights about 2cm until it clicks.

This should release your gas door solenoid and allow you access.

This worked in my 2000 M5. Good luck

Possibly a bad ignition switch. Turn on car, sit in drivers seat, lower the driver sunvisor and open the flap for the mirror, if the steering column starts moving up and down, you have a bad ignition switch.

Guys, I have a related but opposite problem. LOL. The green handle isn't attached to anything, and I noticed the fuel door doesn't lock. I can't see where the handle connects, and why wouldn't the solenoid be locking?
It's a 2000 540i.
