First weekend I had time to clean the car and get it ready for the 500 mile drive down to bimmerfest. As it was Mothers Day I was only able to clay bar the car, clean the engine bay and polish the wheels / brake calipers. Next few nights are polish and wax the car and detail the interior.
Here is the first steps in the cleaning process.
The rag was BRIGHT yellow to start. 4 months of work and being in and out of shops makes for one dusty motor and interior.
YAY Finally done with cleaning 4 month of shop work dust off the car. Engine Bay, Interior, Trunk, Rims, Breaks, Polish, and Tires all clean. 7 hour cleaning to last about 10 minutes as it is followed by a 500 mile drive.. Oh well for that 10 minutes I will be shinny.
Here are a few images from Bimmerfest 2013. The car covered the 1100 mile adventure without skipping a beat. The only issues I had were ones that started before the trip. Need to check the resistors for the airbags and make sure they are connected as I still have the “where is the airbag light” and one of the O2 sensors is out again. I think I am going to have to have Evolve to the rears off as I have replaced both rears and the code I read said rear O2. If it is best to have them on then I need to figure out why I fired another one. For now, I have to clear the code about every 4th start.
Nicely done! I've mulled-over CSL-izing many times in the past (though I don't have SMG, and prefer it that way for myself)-- great to see that you dove in all the way. After a couple of trips to Cali-- what I wouldn't have done for your car to blast-up and down Hwy 1!! (though my first trip involved a several day Cayman rental)
Awesome job-- just the intake sound is ALMOST worth the $$.
I had two more items from my UK trip that I thought I would share with everyone. First is a few pics of some rare cars and the second is of the Evolve guys. I know most of you want me to post the Evolve visit first but you have to wait LOL.
Ok here are some images from London. Dealers there had a BMW M3 GTS, Art Mini, BMW I 8, BMW I 3 frame, and Aston Martin Zagato.
