don't mention the track to hagerty. I just asked. They will not insure if there is intent to take it to the track

Do you mean they won't insure it if there's an incident on the track? I think that's pretty common.

No I asked if they would insure for D/E days. Their response was they would not insure if there was intent to take it to the track.

Other companies insure for D/E days

most insurance companies will cover driving schools at tracks. open lapping days are very infrequently covered. if you crash on the track, its on you.

Yes, this is my M3. I really only drive it at the track so paying normal insurance seems egregious. Hagerty offers agreed value. I valued my car at 15k with the swap. They want 370/year. My current ins is around 800 for the year but my company allows me to only leave fire and theft on it all winter to it is probably close to the same, albeit without the agreed upon value. Either way when I asked about driving it on the track they said they would not insure it. My current company is fine with D/E days. Normal lapping I am on my own.

Here is their response verbatim

Hello Dave

If you are driving on track we cannot insure this car.

If there is an intent we have to decline sorry.

Regards,

hell, if my insurance was 300$ i'd give up being able to track it (and buy a bike, then track that)

Almost all companies will drop you if they are made aware of any timed events. Driver training is generally a safe way to put it.

I found a solution through PV&V Brokers - $170/month. Sucks, but I get to drive it as much as I want.

The question Hagerty asks is, "Will the vehicle be used for racing, timed events, autocross, drivers education, or similar use?

If the answer is yes, they'll decline the policy. (as dcramer stated)

I've scheduled a meeting with the Ontario Hagerty Rep. I don't expect to get an exception any time soon, but I plan to make it known there is a need.
