e36 rear trailing arm dilema

I want to install my m3 trailing arms with brakes to my 318.

I have m3 half shafts with diff output flanges.

Question of the day:

How do i make them work with a small case diff vs a mid case? Everything will bolt up except the half shafts which i know are shorter.... Since a small case diff is roughly an inch narrower... thats if the m3 output shafts even fit in a small case diff....

Are there spacers and bolts i can get between the output flange and the shafts?

How do the e30 and e21 people do it?
