I don't want the drama. Last thing I wanted was the car staying on the hoist or blocked into the shop and having to get the police involved. Don't have the time or patience for that bullshit. The younger me on the other hand........

Lesson learned. I need a buyer like me. Drive a car 20ft and yell: sold!

So the car is now certified, safetied, and I found the folder of service records within the moving boxes.

Ready to go. Need to thin the stable of cars. Too many, and not enough time to enjoy.

That sucks you had to go through that. Truly amazing what people will do. If it was someone from here who stiffed you I hope they man up and reimburse you for the mechanic.
I only wish I had the cash in hand to buy your car looks and sounds amazing but unfortunately not at the moment. Hopefully the next person won't be a waste of time or space.
Good luck

Hi,

First off, thanks for the kind words.

If the car doesn't sell soon, this M3 is going to be hoarded and collect dust. I just don't have the time to play games.

I just wish people(maxbimmer members included) were true to their word when making appointments to see the car. I am too busy to wait around the house for no-shows, and suddenly unavailable people.

I have been fair with everyone, and promptly answered PM's/emails/texts/calls.

My bottom dollar that I've been willingly squeezed for is $11,600.

Enjoy the nice weather,
Pete

Yes, still for sale.

Had put a deal together last weekend. 11,700. Took a $200 deposit and the sale was conditional on buyers inspection at his trusted people. Car is no longer insured for the road as I extended insurance temporary for previous test drives and etest/safety inspections.

So buyers inspection was scheduled for 10am at a shop in Pickering. Took the day off work, and had the car trailered/flatbed'd to Pickering.

Car was inspected, mechanic suggested rear driver control arm bushing may need attention in the future.

Buyer pulls out a cheque for $11k and says that's all I have to give. I refuse, that was not our deal, load up the car, and head home.

Another waste of time and money.

Why is selling a freaking $12k car such an issue? At the end on the day, it's a Mseries. I sold my 2001 golf TDI with 410,000kms in a heartbeat for 6k. My '96 A4 with 440k at 4,500. Maybe I should turn this M into my commuter, rack up 200,000kms, do no maintenance, and sell it as-is for 7k. Seems like there are a ton buyers looking for such cars.

Daily I get emails offering 5-9k and being shown comparables that need work, have apprx 300,000kms, or are pieced together non-factory M 3series.

I don't get it. Looks like I have to be an arrogant asshole to weed out these clowns, and hopefully the self proclaimed serious buyers will disappear, while the 1 will hopefully get filtered through. Lol

Your last paragraph sums it up. That's was my approach to 90% of inquiries and tire-kickers. Eventually the one guy with money to back up his interest came through.

My fav was "I'll offer $5000 cash tonight." to I replied, "Please bring a chainsaw big enough. Which half of the car would you like for $5K?" I got tired of bullshit, may as have some fun with the dumbasses, lol. I don't know how such decrepit examples of human beings exist in our gene pool.

Should have taken the 11k.Its reasonable to your asking price and cost for the new owner to fix whatever was suggested.

Pete, sorry it's been such a chore. Good on you for calling bs on the welched deal. You kept the deposit I hope for your trouble?

For what its worth, the car is fantastic and exactly as described. The only eason I didn't buy is that I've decided I need something larger and am shopping M5.

I have been following this thread for a while and am really surprised your car hasn't sold yet. I'm sorry to hear about the lousy people you've had to deal with. I have been through a similar situation once and eventually accepted a lower offer than what I was asking (which was already a bargain) just to avoid having to deal with more tire-kickers, which is why I quoted the post above me. This is only my opinion of course, but by accepting his offer you would have gotten pretty much your asking price and avoided any further hassle with ridiculous offers such as the ones you've stated. Probably not what you want to hear as it's a frustrating situation and it seems the reason you refused was based more on principle and integrity (yeah it's shitty having someone come over who all too obviously had planned to make a lower offer than what was agreed upon). I hope you eventually get better luck, this is really a fine E36 M you have there.

Yes it was a matter of principal.

It was a weasel move on his behalf. He beat me up from my asking price, and tried to kick me in the nuts at the end with a smirk. No thanks.

If I needed to the cash, and was desperate to sell, then I would have taken his cheque. His mechanic was asked what do you see as a possible item that needs to be replaced in the next year or so? He replied, maybe the driver rear control arm bushing after leaning into it with a 4ft prybar. His direction was to also create a shit list to justify the another drop in price.

Enjoy the day guys,
