Disassembling and then reassembling of my engine...

Hi,

Does anyone know a shop that can fully disassemble and then reassemble my engine? I simply need to do some coating on some parts such as crank shaft, cam shaft, bearings etc for a university research. And then put the engine back together. Any help would be appreciated.

Are there any trade schools locally that could use the opportunity for teaching and help you out? Just thinking that a full tear down and rebuild may be pricey at a shop.

You better make sure that you get the surfaces ground before you coat it or your bearings won't fit.. Or just see how big the bearings get ... I fear this isn't as simple as you hope... Also cam lobes musn't be increased or your final power results might be off

Thanks I will be careful with that. I did do coatings for race cars before for improved engine performance and durability. The coating is very thin, like microns. Also pre coating process actually takes away some material, so the change in size is very minimal. Does not create problems.

It is DLC coating (Diamond Like Carbon). Basically it reduces surface roughness which reduces friction coefficient. Also increases hardness so the parts life increases significantly and becomes highly scratch resistant. It also makes the part inert, which means it doesn't rust or anything.
