Welcome, it looks super clean and has low mileage for it's age.
If you are willing to spend this much on a car, I'm sure you'd be happy with it.
Why are you scared of buying a 98 and not an 05? If anything i'd be more worried about buying an 05 M3, there are less clean ones out there and if you get one that wasn't taken care of they will cost more to maintain than an e36. But you do get a newer car with a great motor, depends on what you want. This e36 is an auto, I assume your looking for an SMG e46 M, you'll probably want to drive one to see if you like it before buying. Those are things to consider.

First i was looking for a 330 CI convertible 2004-06, then i saw that 1998 M3. I was just wondering if that 98 M3 could give me the same adrenaline boost that a 2005 330 would and obviously be a all year long day driving car like the 330 ?

if I were you, Id go for the e46. the style is much better and mechanically, its just as good if not better. I know it doesn't have the M3 badge, but its just as quick as the e36and it looks 10x better, especially the zhp.

If were talking a non-M e46, I actually think the e36 looks better, but since looks are completely subjective, no point in debating about it.
If it’s been well taken care of and checks out mechanically, a late model e36 M3 vert is very nice. The one you posted looks like a great example, as long as the price is worth it for you. It seems fair for one in that condition, perhaps slightly on the high side.
Personally, if it were me, I would save a few more bucks and go for the e46 m3 vert though.

An E36 M3 will give you a much more "adrenaline" rush than a E40 330 will, that's for sure. Only if we are talking manual transmission cars. The E36 automatic is a waste of time and money.
Looks wise, the E46 MSport trumps the E36 (IMO) as it comes off as much more modern and sleek. The e36 is raw and edgy. This is purely subjective, and neither car looks "bad."
-Former owner of a ridiculously modified (read: $$ invested to make it more fun) 330.

This. But don't be scared of the e36. The e46 should frighten you more

Wow that is stupid clean. Great find. Only caveat is the automatic trans. Apart from that, it is looks like a pristine specimen (judging by the pics and others details, that is)

Being having like around 15 cars with manuals trans and at my age (56 years old) its time for me to relax quite a bit LOL. Finaly yes this E36 look very great but i don't think that its gona be a day to day car specialy up here in Quebec. I think i will look further for a E46 around 2005-06 with an auto tranny.
PS: Do you know at which year does the idrive begin and on which model ?
Thanks

I drive is on the E90/1/2/3 3 series, not e46. If you insist on auto, the E46 has a much better transmission; smoother, more responsive, and you can play around with the pseudo-manual mode.

^Zing.
I'm gonna guess it was rear ended based on the badge placement on the trunk. Seeing as it's faded, that probably implies it's been like that for long time. 2003 would make sense.
Just pure speculation, though.
