If you're talking about the OBD scan, then you're fine. The only way to fail is if you have a Check Engine Light.

They don't actually test the exhaust anymore.

Yea I was referring to the obd2 test... This prob means that I will need defoulers for the headers for it not to activate the cel codes

So even if I get defoulers for the headers so it doesn't set off the cell codes won't work?

Actually the check engine light has to be off for a while on newer cars. They are looking for I/M readyness. You can't simply clear the code and drive in.

For this reason if you need a test this year and your CEL has been off for a while, take it in now.

I wonder if the readiness criteria can be programmed with SSS Progman, NCS Expert and WinKFP to 'fool' the system and avoiding the secondary retest.

I guess I'm not really making myself clear... If I get headers with defoulers the cell codes will NOT get thrown... Soo technically it should pass ... Am I correct?...I'm not positive on this so that is why I'm kind of asking people with headers that tested already to see if it worked for them... And since they aren't doing a sniff test anymore it doesn't matter if there's vats or not if there's no codes thrown...any feedback on this??

Hahaha sorry I'm not familiar with those...

You couldn't pass with headers and no cats before, and surely you can't now.

Actually as long as the ECU can be read without a CEL then you can now pass without cats. How ironic is that?

you would need to do a few things to get headers on yours. You need to fool the ecu into thinking you have the air pump still, and the post cat O2 sensors.

Question though, is this for your M3 ? How much power do you expect to get out headers and what would you do with it ?

Yea this is for my E46 M3 and i want to get 350whp N/A with my car in the end.. the 02 sensors will still be active and wouldnt be changing anything just adding defoulers in so the CELs dont go off and it should be ok to pass... is what im hoping... as to the air pump.. what does it do and where does it connect? if i get headers it totally deletes this?

I'm not intimately familiar with headers for the e46 M3, but if I recall the cat is on the manifold so you will lose the cats. There are 4 O2 sensors, 2 pre cat and 2 post cat, most headers delete the post cat sensors. These are necessary for the ecu. The secondary air pump injects air into the exhaust to heat the cat up. There are emulators for them. Basically you have to emulate the pre cat sensor seeing a lean condition when the air pump is turned on.

ok the headsers ive seen have the post 02 bungs but i also see what your getting at with the air pump and the pre-02 sensor being lean and the post giving different readings... man.. tougher then i thought i might just not go with header... im not sure i dont want to go through the headers of switching them in and out(Like i did on my previous car) haha
