Thoughts on buying a 2001 M5 with no service history

Hello, I have not posted in a while, but had some questions about potentially picking up a 2001 M5, the car has about 185,000 kms, black on black on grey, asking $15900. I went and saw the car, it seemed to run amazing but there is absolutely no service history. Clutch and suspension seemed tight but I am weary about the car because of the lack of service history. The car also had a $2500 accident repair, but I figure that's marginal for an M5. Link is below, let me know what you think. Thanks in advance!

Take it to your mechanic to have it checked over. It's no 1987 325is but still looks like a nice car

If the car feels/drives tight, buy it. Take it for a PPI if you are overly worried. A bunch of papers that can be printed at home in about 5 minutes will not make or break it for me.
I don't have any records for my car, I pay cash every time. With 230K on it, I treat it like a baby and service it 2x as regularly as needed.

Sounds a bit much for a US car, with no history...and most likely some shady past (TONS of accident cars come from the US, or rolled back milage, explaining the "lack of history"!!!). On the plus side, it has a rebuilt ABS module!

Stay away. It has a bad paint job, prior accident(s), loose/broken interior trim and questionable repairs.

That car was owned by an enthusiast. I suggest that you take some of those pictures and post/search on some US forums looking for that car or people who remember it. I see a bunch of modifications to the grill, front lip and the German flag M. These are beyond just tinting the windows.

You might see this car in some regional GTG photos. Good luck.

Did you know the owner of this car? Or did you look at it?

I only look at the pictures in the ad. He's got a carbon fibre front lip on there. That's not the kind of thing that casual non-enthusiasts would do to the car. That thing is glued and drilled.

Tough to say that the car was owned by an enthusiast for the reasons that you have listed and no maintenance history...

The car was owned by an enthusiast, the SicRyde sticker on the window dives it away...and the lack of history could be intentional....

Find something else for sure - spend a bit more and get something well taken care of from a true enthusiast on here.
