1991 750il

Dan here,

My 91 750il thermostat gage goes from straight up and down to reading just above cold well after it should read warm. The way it moves around is concerning. My 94 740I is always pegged straight up and down and never moves so i concerned about the 750. Do you think the thermastat just need to be replaced? Also the computer reads BREAK LININGS does this mean i need to replace the pads?

As always thanks in advance for any help
Dan

That is a sweet 750 you got there!

As for the thermostat, it could be stuck either completely open or closed. I would have it checked out.

For the brake linings, it could be that your pads need replacing, OR a wire on the sensor has frayed and needs replacing.

It also sounds like your gauge or your temperature sensor is acting up (very common in e30's, e34's, e28's).

BEAUTIFUL 750! I hope to own one in the future.
