gear box issue?

symptoms of 325i 2001 187,000 km 2nd owner

1) mis shifts, revs not matching shifts, acceleration decrease cimpared to earlier

2) wind up sound from engine in low gears

Do this.

1) Valeo single mass conversion kit
2) New transmission fluid (Pentosin)
3) Rogue engineering transmission mounts.
4) Remove CDV, and install a clutch stop.

If you don't have any synchro issues, and your clutch is properly bled, you should have a night/day driving experience.

Probably just needs a clutch (plus pressure plate), but wouldn't hurt to do a few other things while in there. Maybe not the single mass conversion, but new fluid, shift linkage bushings, tranny mounts and driveshaft hardware would be what I would do. Good chance all those items are original and worn out.

You can't machine the flywheel on these cars, and if you don't replace it, that means going back in the transmission in the relative short term future.

The conversion is cheap and well reviewed, but to each their own.
