e39 - 2002 replacement bulbs

Wassup.

i have the stock HIDs and Angel Eye lights for 2001+
need to know what style bulb is used to replace the stock OEM angel eyes?
mine is burnt out. Also do you have to remove the headlights to replace the parking light bulb, behind the orange diffusor(also burnt out)?

its not something you can get from CT... OEM only or aftermarket this maybe a good time to get a brighter ones if you wanted look up umnitza they have replacement led ones.

actually i was able to find the bulb at canadian tire...
the OEM is philips, 10280 i believe. The one i got at CT is GE Standard T4W.
its a bit rounder at the top (not pointy) but it fits! and best of all, $2.99.
also, i didnt know that it was connected to the parking light bulb as well....

Can you post picture of the ones you bought??!?! cuz 2.99 sure as hell beat the oem and or aftermarket AE bulb replacment.

also one on the left is OEM

All i know is this 1st pic is my stock AE's, you can remove the inner bulb by pushing down and turning.

as you can see, if you remove the bulb, the parking light goes off as well.

These are the bulbs i bought at Canadian Tire for $2.99

here is the stock bulb (the bottom, pointy top, compared to the CT one (on top) i put a penny to show u the size.

Finished product looks exactly like OEM even at night.

ahhh.. good to know... i assumed/thought you have to replace the whole housing just like how the h7s are...

Ill have to opt for this if/when mine blows instead of spending 100x as much.

My right AE was dead... as i run around with AE and fogs only (at night). I rarely use my hid... i had bookmarked this thread... funny enough i took the bulb out and it started to work... probably was loose.

if it fries maybe i should get something "whiter" without breaking the bank.

So my bulb finally blew and my search for the bulb started... seems like its not avail anywhere.. the cdn tire bulb is 4watt instead of 10watt so its very dimm.

I found a source in states for these bulbs and they are not that expensive about 11 bucks each but the shipping is like 30 bucks here which kills it... though if i order more bulbs the shipping remains the same.

If anyone has any pointers on where to get these please post.

Just upgrade to something nice, its SO much better then stock! If you still want stock ones, i'll sell you my old ones!

No i didn't try candlepower chances are with shipping it would have been expensive.

I am running the CT Ones now but i ordered some led's from ebay... i don't want super white bright so i got the bulbs only ba9s and they are < $2 shipped. I will post some pics once i get the ebay ones.

Ok so update on the AE bulb... cdn tire used to sell them as T4W, they recently changed their bulb naming from what everyone uses to some propriety garbage. Now the T4W bulbs are called 3893LL.

To replace the bulb you are simply snapping the plastic bit on the holder to release the bulb? I just don't recall atm when that became an option but thought bmw tried making them unreplaceable (bulb) and charging $45-49 to buy the holder with bulb again. Major rip off so nice to see y'all have ways around it
