Why the BIG difference in Price CAN vs US
Hey,
Im looking to purchase Polyurethane RTABs and FCABs.. why is there such a drastic difference in Prices here in CAN vs US. Its basically $120 for one set of RTABs or FCABs while its $74 in US. (powerflex)
$45??? for what??
Does anyone else sell them for cheaper here in CAN? Worst case, Ill order through Pelican parts and pay $28 for shipping... Ill still save about $60.

Been ordering parts from the us for 15 years now IMO its because pricing still hasn't adjusted for our dollar being strong now vs the u.s. now and for the last several years. If you owned a shoppe here why not gouge your customers more?
Remember though that larger heavier parts will cost more in brokerage /shipping etc especially through ups. If you buy rtabs and stuff insist USPS only if you can. You will still get charged tax duty and brokerage on rtabs but the difference is crazy still.

I buy parts from US and ship it to Port Huron where I pick it up... but thats larger orfers. When Im in need of little items such as bushings, I kills me to pay out up to 100%+ more...

Yeah I do the same. For small stuff just ship straight to your door. I know turner doesn't lower value on shipped items but other vendors do which cuts costs further. If I was heading over I'd grab them for you and toss em in the trunk I go about once every week/ 2 weeks to buffalo. Unfortunately tomorrow morning ill be on a beach

Its an excuse for companies to markup the price... Basically if Canadians want it that bad, they figure we'll pay more. Fed and Provinces have been looking into it, but they really can't stop companies from setting prices... If know they got pissed at Ford/GM/Chrysler for building cars in Canada then charging more for the car and a silly freight price when the dealership is down the road from their plant.

You think thats bad? $5000 more for Honda built in Alliston Ontario For the life of me I don't see the $5000 in extras.. All before taxes addded in as well.
We are so gulible.

I buy all my parts online - even oil filters etc. I double check autopartsway.ca first - sometimes it's a similar or better price (net) than getting it shipped from the US.

What we need are more Canadian manufacturers. When I pieced my exhaust together I chose Vibrant all the way. Now if you can find someone local who makes the bushings you need... with some things you just need to bite the bullet.

As far as I can tell it is mostly shipping. Most of you above are avoiding the shipping costs. Bimmerspecialist can offer good prices because of exactly that.
What we need to do is amalgamate shipping somehow. I've had some thoughts on this, but it would take organization. One account that you go through UPS with. Get your own broker to avoid UPS' egregious fees.

Many items in stores are on par with US prices and have been for some time.
The auto industry still gouges us. Many parts I have bought are made in Germany so what difference is there when same parts come to Canada vs US and we pay inflated prices.
Ontario is a huge market IMHO so it still does not explain huge price difference. We pay 2x the shipping cost as the US. How is that? Transport carrier still carries a full load whether going to Chicago or Montreal.
Do you think China or India will see huge lower price differences from the US?
With those markets the manufacturers will be almost giving them away

The fact of the matter is that as Canadians we pay for stuff regardless of gouging... Just look at gas prices, they do it to us cause they can
