sounds like every other car forum. The "Scene" so to speak kind of died off and a lot of people "grew up"(some were in the fad of modding cars. Others had families etc)
this phenomenon is not just a max thing. You could apply it to basically any other local car forum that started 99-02ish. They mostly had the same feel for the Og's. Now its different.
Back then it was all about scrounging and saving to spend friday night bolting on a new mod yourself, then heading out to show it off to a group who could appreciate it. Now kids (if they are even into cars at all, which most arent) are ebaying everything,have no concept of wrenching and are out there trying to copy the latest trend they saw online..then show up to a meet with attitude.

SIR, you are pretty bang on.
There are some cool new members that come out to the meets, but the OG feeling will never be replicated. People now a days are just too busy. I hardly have the time to come out to the friday meets anymore, although I won't miss a main event for almost anything.

LOL I still remember when a bunch of us maX guys went to go see the drifto fast and furious in theatres, man that shit was hilarious, just all of us constantly cutting up the movie hahahaa... the audience must have been pissed!

things definitely got too commercialized imo... the f&f ,albeit fun,unrealistic entertainment(in a varying capacities) didnt really help things.
then the whole street racing scapegoat bs/media hype(ya its overblown bs) really put the nail in the coffin imo for a scene that was already slowing on its own.
I remember going to the original f&f to see the midnight showing.Another web forum had rented a whole theatre lol

There does seem to be a distinctive lack of motivation across the board, to do work/research or put time and effort into things... I guess quick resuls is the name of the game now
Not to mention all the kids rollin in e90s that should be in e30s haha

Come on Jim that wasn't me that was Rev Shot lol. For me, the most memorable old school member was Shamis! God that guy made me laugh. The best cruise was the very first midnight cruise. I made everyone wait for me to get there until 1am lol. Fun times!
I still check in from time to time but don't think I would ever come out to another meet. Seems to be too many people that want to show off how fast their cars are nowadays.
