so first we got the .130 mls head gasket

IMG_0319.JPG

Then we have a magnaflow cat and muffler

IMG_0320.JPG

with only a couple or so hours of working on the car me and maxbell have come to this!!

IMG_0330.JPG

IMG_0332.JPG

just picked up a couple tools to continue removing the head, and also ordered some VAC exhaust manifold studs and nuts, valve cover gasket, and some high temp ngk spark plugs BKR7E is the part # i believe

^ Yup - the 6E is recommended, but you can use 7E as well.

i thot the 7e was for higher temps?

and im now stuck on one head bolt that i do not have a deep e8 for, princess auto here i come!!

also i got my 2x 3000 cfm aux fans mounted (pics soon) and i am still running the stock clutch fan, only problem is most people run the fans threw the coolant temp switch for the a/c..... mine has no a/c , so im kinda wondering if i should simple run them constantly on or if i should put a switch or something.... any ideas?

i cut out a sec. of plastic on my front valance (i think its called) for air flow to the i/c! and it actually looks good and oem, just gotta clean up the edges

For my clutch fan on the E30, i just rigged it nicely to the fuse panel, and hook it up with a switch. So if it started to get hot, I would just flick it on. Or leave it on whenever the car was running.

how do you tell if the positioning of the timing chains and sprokets are proper? i turned the engine over by hand when it was just put back together and nothing came in contact with anything soo i felt as if it was all good.

It's not just about things coming into contact....

Take your valvecover off and rotate it until cylinder 1 is at TDC - the two cam lobes should be pointing at each other & the tops of the squares should be level or almost level to the head. You're likely off by a tooth or two and didn't notice the first time...
